Family stories tell us that O’Callahan took the last boat out of Madrid when France was under attack at the beginning of World War II, and as a result, much of his important art was left in his studio in Paris or stored in a warehouse there, possibly owned by M. Lefebvre-Foinet. Art was dispersed or lost during the war, and like many seekers of missing art, Clinton’s son, Juan O’Callahan, was devoted to pursuing relevant records and lost works. Clinton’s wife also gave away art to friends and relatives and we have lost track of who, and where, they are.
